National Archaeology Week 2008 at Boarstall Tower

Finds

Part of a medieval ridge roof tile with green glaze found at Boarstall during National Archaelogy Week 2008

A sherd from a Bellarmine Jug, possibly from Frechen, Germany, C16.

There are now about 60 trays of finds, which include large quantities of sherds of Brill/Boarstall pottery, much of which is 13th or 14th century. There are fragments of decorated medieval floor tiles, clay and limestone roofing tiles, quite a lot of bone and even a sherd from a German stoneware jug? There is surprisingly little metal, apart from a few musket balls, presumably from the Civil War.

To sort through and classify all these will take some time.
