The products are shown in the alphabetic sequence of their names, but, as they are also indexed under product number, they can also be displayed in product number sequence simply by typing #* or #>=1. No sorting is necessary to achieve this change of sequence. An individual record can be retrieved by typing in its full (or truncated) name or its product number (preceeded by #). Records can also be accessed through synonyms - for example, if the "1999 Christmas Box" were given the synonym "Christmas Box, 1999", and Christmas Boxes from earlier years were given similar synonyms, then typing Christmas Box would retrieve Christmas boxes for all years, typing Christmas Box 1999 would retrieve that for 1999 alone, whilst typing Christmas Box >=1995 would retrieve, through their synonyms, all Christmas boxes for 1995 and later.

An ERROS user company default price/quantity record, automatically retrieved when a user signs on, determines the maximum number of significant digits for quantities, and also for prices and values (with decimals). The attributes are automatically displayed in columns of the appropriate width and the headings are truncated to suit, in order to reduce the width of the display and the use of the horizontal slider bar when using a browser. When using a 5250 terminal, the display can be windowed using the F19 & F20 function keys (this is a standard feature of ERROS applications). The range of attributes displayed in the columns can be changed by typing in a command such as !X=A. A default code is normally stored in the application. The various columns would be updated by different parts of the overall application.
